What is an EAN?
The EAN13 barcode is an international product code that uniquely identifies the item.
EAN, or EAN13, acronym for International Article Number (originally European Article Number).
It is an extension of UPC codes and you will find them as barcodes on most products on a daily basis.
The barcode is also called GTIN or GTIN13 (Global Trade Identifier).
What information is included in an EAN?
EAN includes country of origin (0 - USA o Canadá), the manufacturer (Datacolor) and a product code (87572000143), in addition to the check-digit (the last digit 5).
The Check Digit is calculated from an algorithm and determines whether the EAN13 0875720001435 is valid or not.
